An accountant owning a surfshop? I know, I know, it’s like chalk and cheese, isn’t it? The great thing about having the surfshop was that while running it, I figured out a system to keep all my paperwork sorted.
In my previous life, I had had experience working for accounting firms and large businesses. All of this accumulated knowledge allowed me to create my own way of keeping all the paperwork from my business (and we all know there is absolutely bucket loads of it!) organised and easily accessible.
At tax time I went to my tax accountant armed with my system and he was blown away at how organised everything was. My tax was completed in record time. There were no follow up questions or lost paperwork because all the information was readily available.
Once I saw how well it worked, I started implementing this system with my own clients. Not only did they have peace of mind that I was looking after their books but they could also put their fingers on important financial information at any time when I was not around.
They simply went to the system and found it. Then it was tax time again and not only were my clients’ accountants impressed, they were downright shocked! Not only that, my clients were very pleased about the smaller tax bills from their accountants, because of the time saved!
